- champion); following two hours of surgery on both knees; at
- Century City Hospital in Los Angeles. The first foreigner to
- attain the highest rank in sumo wrestling, Akebono (born Chad
- Rowan in Oahu, Hawaii) was reportedly doing well. His injuries,
- sustained during a May tournament in Tokyo, are not considered
- career threatening.
